Research and Publication Ethics

The Bangladesh Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine (BJCVM) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and research integrity. The journal follows the principles and best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and internationally recognized scholarly publishing standards. Authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial staff are expected to adhere to these ethical principles throughout the publication process.

Research Integrity

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts represent original work and that all data, results, and conclusions are accurate, reliable, and honestly reported. Any form of data fabrication, data falsification, image manipulation, or misleading reporting is considered unethical and may result in rejection or retraction of the article.

Originality and Plagiarism

Submitted manuscripts must be original and must not have been published previously or be under consideration elsewhere. Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, or inappropriate citation practices, is unacceptable.

All manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection software before peer review and publication.

Authorship and Contributions

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, interpretation, drafting, or critical revision of the manuscript. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission for publication.

Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

Ethical Approval and Informed Consent

Research involving human participants must be conducted in accordance with recognized ethical standards, including the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. Authors must obtain approval from an appropriate Ethics Committee or Institutional Review Board (IRB) and include relevant approval details within the manuscript.

Where applicable, informed consent must be obtained from participants before inclusion in the study.

Research involving animals must comply with institutional, national, and international guidelines for animal welfare and ethical treatment.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the research, review process, or editorial decisions.

All potential conflicts of interest should be declared transparently.

Data Availability and Transparency

Authors are encouraged to maintain accurate research records and make supporting data available whenever appropriate. Data should be retained for a reasonable period following publication and provided when requested by editors or reviewers.

Peer Review Ethics

BJCVM follows a Single-Blind Peer Review process. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, confidential, and timely evaluations. Reviewers must not use unpublished information for personal benefit and must disclose any conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative Tools

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and generative AI tools in manuscript preparation must be disclosed by authors. AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, and originality of scholarly work.

Authors remain fully responsible for all content submitted for publication.

Corrections, Retractions, and Ethical Concerns

The journal will investigate allegations of misconduct, ethical violations, authorship disputes, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or data manipulation in accordance with COPE recommendations.

Where necessary, the journal may publish:

• Corrections

• Errata

• Expressions of Concern

• Retractions

Appropriate actions will be taken to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based solely on scientific merit, originality, relevance, methodological quality, and ethical compliance. Editorial evaluations are conducted without discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, gender, institutional affiliation, religion, or political beliefs.

BJCVM is dedicated to fostering ethical research practices, transparency, accountability, and integrity in scholarly publishing while supporting the advancement of cardiovascular medicine and healthcare research worldwide.
