Complaints and Appeals

The Bangladesh Journal of Cardiovascular Intervention (BJCI) is committed to maintaining a fair, transparent, and accountable editorial process. The journal welcomes complaints and appeals relating to editorial decisions, peer review, publication ethics, or editorial management and will consider all submissions in an impartial and timely manner.

BJCI follows the recommendations and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in handling complaints and appeals.

Complaints

A complaint may relate to any aspect of the journal's editorial or publication process, including but not limited to:

  • Editorial decisions
  • Peer-review process
  • Publication delays
  • Alleged publication misconduct
  • Ethical concerns
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Breaches of editorial policies
  • Author, reviewer, or editor conduct

Complaints should be submitted in writing to the Editorial Office with sufficient detail and supporting evidence to facilitate a fair assessment.

Appeals Against Editorial Decisions

Authors may appeal editorial decisions if they believe that a decision was based on a factual error, misunderstanding, or procedural irregularity.

Appeals should:

  • Be submitted in writing within a reasonable period after the editorial decision.
  • Clearly explain the reasons for the appeal.
  • Provide supporting evidence or documentation where appropriate.
  • Address the scientific or procedural basis of the appeal rather than expressing disagreement alone.

Submission of an appeal does not guarantee that the manuscript will be reconsidered.

Editorial Review of Appeals

Appeals will be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or another appropriately designated editor who was not directly involved in the original decision whenever possible.

The journal may:

  • Seek additional opinions from independent reviewers or Editorial Board members.
  • Request clarification or additional information from the authors.
  • Review all correspondence and reviewer reports before reaching a final decision.

The decision following the appeal will be communicated to the corresponding author and will normally be considered final.

Handling of Complaints

All complaints will be handled:

  • Fairly and objectively.
  • Confidentially.
  • Without discrimination or bias.
  • In accordance with the journal's editorial and ethical policies.

Where appropriate, the journal may consult external experts, authors' institutions, or other relevant organizations when investigating complex ethical matters.

Confidentiality

The identities of complainants, authors, reviewers, and editors will be protected to the fullest extent possible during the investigation of complaints and appeals. Information will be shared only with individuals directly involved in resolving the matter.

Commitment to Fair Practice

The Bangladesh Journal of Cardiovascular Intervention (BJCI) is committed to ensuring that all complaints and appeals are handled promptly, respectfully, and transparently. The journal strives to resolve concerns through an impartial process while upholding the principles of fairness, accountability, and publication ethics in accordance with the COPE Core Practices and internationally recognized standards of scholarly publishing.
