Generative AI Policy

The Bangladesh Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine (BJCVM) recognizes the growing use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in research and scholarly communication. To ensure transparency, accountability, and research integrity, the journal requires authors, reviewers, and editors to use AI technologies responsibly and in accordance with ethical publishing standards.

Use of AI by Authors

Authors may use Generative AI tools to assist with language editing, grammar improvement, formatting, or enhancing readability. However, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and validity of all submitted content.

Authors must disclose the use of Generative AI tools in the manuscript, including the name of the tool and the purpose for which it was used.

Authorship

Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript. AI systems cannot take responsibility for the content, approve the final manuscript, disclose conflicts of interest, or fulfill authorship requirements.

Only humans who meet the journal’s authorship criteria may be named as authors.

Research Integrity

Authors must carefully review and verify all AI-generated content before submission. The use of AI does not exempt authors from responsibility for plagiarism, inaccurate information, fabricated references, biased content, copyright violations, or ethical misconduct.

Use of AI by Reviewers

Reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts, reviewer reports, or unpublished research data to public AI platforms or generative AI tools, as doing so may compromise confidentiality and intellectual property rights.

All manuscripts under review must remain confidential throughout the peer-review process.

Use of AI by Editors

Editors may use AI-assisted tools for administrative and editorial support; however, all editorial decisions must be made by qualified human editors. AI tools must not replace independent editorial judgment.

Policy Compliance

Failure to disclose the use of Generative AI tools or misuse of AI technologies may result in manuscript rejection, correction, retraction, or other appropriate editorial actions in accordance with the journal's ethical policies.

BJCVM supports the responsible and transparent use of Generative AI technologies while maintaining the highest standards of research integrity, publication ethics, and scholarly excellence.
