Policy of Screening for Plagiarism Process

The Bangladesh Journal of Cardiovascular Intervention (BJCI) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. The journal has a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, and other forms of research misconduct. All submitted manuscripts are screened for originality before entering the peer-review process.

Plagiarism Screening

BJCI uses Turnitin to assess the originality of all submitted manuscripts. Authors are required to ensure that their work is original and that all sources are appropriately cited and acknowledged.

To facilitate the editorial assessment, a Turnitin plagiarism report must be submitted along with the manuscript at the time of submission. The Editorial Office may also conduct an independent plagiarism check using Turnitin during the review process.

Types of Plagiarism

The journal considers the following practices to be unacceptable:

  • Direct plagiarism (copying text without proper attribution)
  • Self-plagiarism or redundant publication
  • Mosaic or patchwork plagiarism
  • Improper paraphrasing
  • Unattributed use of figures, tables, images, or data
  • Duplicate or simultaneous submission to another journal

Any form of plagiarism or unethical reuse of published material is regarded as a serious breach of publication ethics.

Editorial Assessment

The Editorial Office will evaluate the plagiarism report and the originality of each manuscript before peer review. Manuscripts with an unacceptable level of text similarity or evidence of plagiarism may:

  • Be returned to the authors for clarification or revision.
  • Be rejected without external peer review.
  • Be referred for further investigation in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

Editors may request additional explanations from the authors if similarity is identified in standard sections such as the methodology or references.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for:

  • Submitting original work that has not been published elsewhere.
  • Properly citing and acknowledging all sources.
  • Obtaining permission for the use of copyrighted material where required.
  • Submitting a Turnitin plagiarism report with every manuscript submission.
  • Ensuring that the manuscript complies with the journal's originality requirements.

Handling of Plagiarism

If plagiarism or other forms of research misconduct are identified before publication, the manuscript may be rejected. If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal may take appropriate action, including issuing a correction, publishing a retraction, notifying the authors' institutions, or taking other measures in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Commitment to Research Integrity

The Bangladesh Journal of Cardiovascular Intervention (BJCI) is dedicated to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record by ensuring that all published articles are original, ethical, and scientifically sound. Through the mandatory use of Turnitin and the submission of a plagiarism report with each manuscript, the journal promotes responsible research and upholds the highest standards of academic and publication ethics.
