BJCI follows the principles and COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Flowcharts and Guidelines when handling allegations of research misconduct throughout the submission, peer-review, publication, and post-publication processes.

Depending on the nature and severity of the misconduct, BJCI may take one or more of the following actions:
Authors who disagree with an editorial decision relating to alleged misconduct may submit a written appeal, supported by relevant evidence. Appeals will be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and, where appropriate, the Editorial Board. The decision following the appeal will be considered final.
