Guide for Authors

The Bangladesh Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine (BJCVM) welcomes the submission of original, high-quality manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of cardiovascular medicine and related disciplines. Authors are expected to adhere to the highest standards of research integrity, publication ethics, and scientific reporting in accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and internationally recognized scholarly publishing standards.

 

1. Types of Manuscripts Accepted

The journal accepts the following categories of manuscripts:

 

• Original Research Articles

• Review Articles

• Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses

• Case Reports

• Short Communications

• Editorials

• Clinical Studies

• Letters to the Editor

• Perspectives and Commentary Articles

 

2. Manuscript Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal's submission system or via the official journal email. Authors should ensure that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not under consideration by another journal.

3. Authorship Criteria

Authorship should be based on substantial contributions to:

 

• Study conception and design, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation;

• Drafting or critically revising the manuscript;

• Approval of the final version of the manuscript;

• Accountability for all aspects of the work.

 

Individuals who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

 

4. Ethical Requirements

Research involving human participants must comply with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and must have received approval from an appropriate Ethics Committee or Institutional Review Board (IRB).

 

Authors must include:

• Name of the approving ethics committee;

• Approval/reference number (where applicable);

• Statement confirming informed consent from participants.

 

Research involving animals must comply with relevant institutional and international animal welfare guidelines.

 

5. Clinical Trial Registration

Clinical trials should be registered in a publicly accessible clinical trial registry before participant enrollment. Registration details should be included within the manuscript.

 

6. Reporting Guidelines

Authors are encouraged to follow internationally recognized reporting standards, including:

 

• CONSORT for randomized clinical trials

• STROBE for observational studies

• PRISMA for systematic reviews and meta-analyses

• CARE for case reports

• ARRIVE for animal studies

 

7. Manuscript Structure

Original Research Articles should generally contain:

 

• Title Page

• Abstract

• Keywords

• Introduction

• Materials and Methods

• Results

• Discussion

• Conclusion

• Acknowledgments (if applicable)

• Funding Information

• Conflict of Interest Statement

• References

 

8. Plagiarism Policy

BJCVM maintains a strict policy against plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, image manipulation, and other forms of research misconduct.

 

All submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection software. Manuscripts with significant plagiarism or unethical content may be rejected immediately.

 

9. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative Tools

Authors must disclose the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, including generative AI technologies, in manuscript preparation.

 

AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, or originality of scholarly work.

 

Authors remain fully responsible for all content submitted for publication.

 

10. Conflicts of Interest

All authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the research or interpretation of findings.

 

If no conflicts exist, authors should state:

"The authors declare no conflict of interest."

 

11. Funding Disclosure

Authors must disclose all sources of funding and financial support associated with the research.

 

If no funding was received, authors should state:

 

"This research received no external funding."

 

12. Data Availability

Authors are encouraged to make research data available whenever possible and should provide a Data Availability Statement describing where supporting data can be accessed.

 

13. Peer Review Process

BJCVM follows a Single-Blind Peer Review process. Reviewers are aware of the authors' identities, while authors remain unaware of reviewer identities.

 

Editorial decisions are based on scientific quality, originality, relevance, ethical compliance, and methodological rigor.

 

14. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright of their published work while granting the journal the right to publish, distribute, archive, and index the article.

 

Published articles are made available under the journal's Open Access policy.

 

15. Article Processing Charges (APC)

An Article Processing Charge (APC) of USD 300 is applicable only after acceptance of the manuscript.

 

No submission or initial review fees are charged.

 

16. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

The journal follows COPE guidelines when handling:

• Corrections and Errata

• Retractions

• Expressions of Concern

• Ethical Complaints

• Authorship Disputes

 

Appropriate actions will be taken to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

 

17. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are made solely on academic merit, scientific quality, originality, and relevance to the journal's scope. Commercial interests, sponsorship, or publication fees do not influence editorial decisions.

 

By submitting a manuscript to BJCVM, authors confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with all journal policies and ethical requirements.
