Single-Blind Peer Review
BJCI follows a single-blind peer-review process.
- The identities of reviewers remain confidential.
- Reviewers are aware of the authors' identities, while authors do not know the identities of the reviewers.
- Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent experts in the relevant field.
- The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision based on reviewers' recommendations and editorial assessment.
- All manuscripts are treated as confidential documents and should not be shared or discussed with anyone outside the review process.
Role of Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations that assist editors in making informed decisions and help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.
Reviewers should assess:
- Originality and novelty of the research
- Scientific validity and methodological rigor
- Clinical relevance and significance
- Accuracy of data analysis and interpretation
- Ethical compliance and patient safety considerations
- Quality of writing, organization, and presentation
- Adequacy and relevance of references
Reviewers should:
- Submit reviews within the requested deadline.
- Maintain confidentiality throughout the review process.
- Declare any potential conflicts of interest before accepting a review.
- Provide constructive comments supported by scientific evidence.
- Avoid personal criticism or inappropriate language.
- Inform the editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, or ethical concerns.

Prospective reviewers should preferably have:
- A doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) or recognized clinical expertise.

Recommendation
At the end of the review, reviewers should recommend one of the following:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
Reviewers should provide separate comments for:
- Comments to the Authors (constructive suggestions for improvement)
- Confidential Comments to the Editor (if necessary)
Confidentiality and Ethical Responsibilities
Reviewers must:
- Treat all manuscripts as confidential.
- Not use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage.
- Not contact authors directly regarding the manuscript.
- Decline review invitations when conflicts of interest exist.
